Q: How much are the participation fees? When do the different rounds of registration end?


A: The fee for attending SMUN 2019 is 700kr and the application period is from August 1st until September 23rd.



Q: I cannot attend SMUN 2019 any longer. Can I get a full refund?


A: The fee of 700kr cannot be refunded once paid. Exceptional circumstances might be considered, but there is no guarantee.

Q: What types of offers can I potentially get after applying?


A: After you have applied, you may receive one of the following offers:


Conditional Offer: SMUN has offered you a place subject to a condition that you must pay the conference fee within 10 working days after receiving the admission result by email. 


Successful Application: Following your conditional offer, SMUN has received your payment and you have been offered a spot in the conference.


Unsuccessful Application: SMUN has decided that it is unable to offer you a place in the conference.

Q: How long will it take to process my application?


A: Processing of applications may take up to 10 working days. We recommend applying as early as possible to speed up the process of your application and to avoid being waitlisted.



Q: I have received a conditional offer. What should I do now?


A: Once you have received a conditional offer and would like to accept it, you must pay the non-refundable conference fee within 10 working days. Failure to do so will result to the withdrawal of your placement offer.


Q: I am 18 years old but I am not enrolled in a university. Can I apply as a delegate?


 A: Absolutely! High school graduates, especially those with Model UN experience, are encouraged to apply!


Q: I am under 18 years old. Can I apply as a delegate?


A: Unfortunately, we have 18 years old minimum age policy. Due to our social events, all delegates must at least be 18 years old by November 14, 2019, to participate at the conference. We do however encourage you to apply to be a volunteer


Q: Will SMUN provide me with a formal document to excuse me from any mandatory periods of attendance at my university or job?


A:  We recommend that delegates use their acceptance letter for this purpose.


Q:  I need a visa to enter Sweden. Will SMUN help me acquire a visa?


A:  Upon successful admission to the SMUN conference, delegates needing a visa may request for an invitation letter. This letter will state that you have been accepted to participate as a delegate in the conference. The letter will indicate your name and the dates of the conference. The document will also state that SMUN will not be responsible for any of your costs before, during or after the conference.  




Q: Where can I stay while in Stockholm?

Q: How can I get from Arlanda Airport (ARN) to the city?


A:  If you will be arriving from Arlanda Airport, we recommend taking the Arlanda Express! It costs 150 kr for students and you arrive in Stockholm city in just 20 minutes. Trains depart every 10-15 minutes making it stress-free for your journey to SMUN 2019! Another option is to take the Flygbussarna which is 120 kr per ride, the time table is listed online. Q: How am I able to get around in Sweden (transportation)


A:  Getting around Stockholm is very simple, and we recommend you purchase an SL card. All tickets are loaded on an SL Access card, which is an electronic smart card. You need to pay a fee of 20 SEK for the card itself, but you can re-use your card at future visits to Stockholm. There are single-use travelcards with tickets valid 75 minutes, 24 or 72 hours, perfect for your trip to SMUN. Tickets and travel cards are sold at the SL Center and at Metro and commuter railway stations. There are also ticket machines at most Metro and commuter railway stations, as well as in a number of other locations. Also, make sure to download the SL app on your phone so you can check times and routes. Visit https://sl.se/en/ for more information.



Q: How can I get from Stockholm city to SMUN 2019?


A:  It's very simple. From T-Centralen (Stockholm City) take the red line metro towards Mörby Centrum for several stops and in less than 10 minutes, get off at Universitet station. From there you have arrived at Stockholm University, and we will meet you there.


To reach Aula Svea, take the Green-line metro from T-Centralen towards Hässelby Strand, Åkeshov or Alvik. Once at Odenplan station, step off and walk for 1,2 km (15 mins) to Sveavägen 160, 113 46 Stockholm. Alternatively, take the red Bus 57 from Sergels Torg (T-Central) towards Karolinska Sjukhuset and step off at Frejgatan. Then walk 584 meters (8 min) to Sveavägen 160, 113 46 Stockholm.

Q: How to reach SMUN's evening events? (* Bar, * Club and Münchenbryggeriet)

To reach Münchenbryggeriet:

Take the metro from T-Central/your location to the station Mariatorget, take the exit towards Polishuset/Torkel Knutssongatan. Step outside and turn left on Hornsgatan where you will keep walking until you see Torkel Knutssongatan, at this street turn right. Walk straight for around 300 meters and on the left side, you will find Münchenbryggeriet.

Just a reminder, do not forget to bring your name tag and ID for entry! This is mandatory.


Q: What are your country assignment policies?


A: Country assignments are determined by a variety of factors including previous Model United Nations experience and country preferences among others. Country assignments will be determined on an ongoing basis for delegations that have been accepted and paid the delegate fee for the conference. Due to limited space and availability, Stockholm Model United Nations 2019 cannot guarantee that country and committee preferences will always be met.


Q: What is the dress code?


A: The dress code for SMUN committee sessions is formal. This means suits for gentlemen and a smart suit or dress for ladies. Running shoes, jeans, and other casual wear is not acceptable!


Q:  Does SMUN produce any sort of formal recognition for attending the conference?


A:   Yes. On the final day of the conference, each delegate will receive a certificate of participation.


Q:  Will awards be presented?


A: Yes. Awards will be presented to delegates who demonstrate a keen interest and passion on the topics of discussion as well as a strength in the quality of their arguments throughout the debate. Strong attention is given towards delegates who accurately depict the standpoints of his or her represented country. These delegates will distinguish themselves by demonstrating leadership through their combined efforts with others.
