    Pre-lecture I – The UN System
    November 7th, 6.00-7.45 p.m.

    During pre-lecture one we will touch upon the subject of the inner workings of the UN system. The different aspects of the topic we will discuss are this year’s SMUN councils.

    Speakers

    6.00-6.45 p.m. – Ann Måwe,
    Head of the UN group at the Department for Multilateral Development Cooperation, Swedish Ministry for Foreign Affairs. Worked at the Permanent Mission of Sweden to the United Nations in New York.

    Break

    7.00-7.45 p.m. – Said Mahmoudi,
    Professor in International Law at University of Stockholm. Former diplomat to the Iranian Embassy in Sweden and the Iranian Ministry for Foreign Affairs.

    Pre-lecture II – The Operational Matters, Sanctions and Human Rights
    November 8th, 6.00-8.30 p.m.

    The second pre-lecture is going to consist of different views of various institutions concerning the military, economical, and human aspects of the events unraveling within the scenario.

    6.00-6.45 p.m. – Anders Silwer,
    Chief of Staff, Swedish Air Force. Responsible for the Swedish air operations over Libya.

    7.00-7.45 p.m. – Per Saland,
    Sanctions Coordinator at the Department for Security Policy, Swedish Ministry for Foreign Affairs. Former Ambassador.

    7.45-8.30 p.m. – Ylva Lennartsson Hartmann,
    Research assistant in Public International Law at University of Uppsala. Lecturer in Human Rights at the Swedish National Defence College and member of the Swedish section of the International Commission of Jurists.

    Pre-lecture III – The Scenario
    November 9th, 6.00-08.30 p.m.

    The final pre-lecture will expand on your previous insights with knowledge related to this year’s scenario. Now, you have the chance to diversify your technical knowledge with more practical details about tangible situations developing as part of the scenario.

    Deputy Director-General, Head of the Department for Middle East and North Africa, Swedish Ministry for Foreign Affairs. Former Ambassador to the Swedish Embassy in Israel.

    7.00-7.45 p.m. – Mohamed Osama Taha Elmagdoub,
    Ambassador of Egypt to Sweden.

    7.45-8.30 p.m. – Afrah Nasser,
    Journalist and blogger from Yemen. CNN ranked her blog as the top-ten-must-read blogs from the Middle East.
