  • Peace and Security in the Middle East and Northern Africa

Posted on October 21st, 2011 kerstinmartinez No comments
The 2011 Middle East and North Africa protests are a revolutionary wave of demonstrations and expressions of dissent which have been taking place in the region since January 2011. The nature of this issue is rapidly becoming more global, leaving the international community without customary rules to address the situation.
Stockholm Model United Nations 2011 takes on the immense challenge of finding an adequate response to this regional turmoil which poses a threat to national as well as international security. The currently unraveling events are of historic significance both to the people of the region and the international community.
Discussions are divided into three councils, focusing on different aspects of the issue peace and security in Middle East and Northern Africa, including people’s right to self-determination, responsibility to protect (R2P) and post conflict reconstruction. In this way, discussions will be approaching the issue from three separate, but interlinked angles.
Delegates, you will very soon receive the Committee Guide as well as Country and Committee Allocations in an Inbox near you!
