Structure of the 2012 Host Team

The specific positions within each group are not completely set yet. The structure of the Host team allows for some flexibility, although some of these groups have positions that we know will be required during the upcoming year. Here is some background information about the different groups that you can apply for, and what positions you would expect to find in them.

    Steering and Finance

The Steering and Finance group is responsible for organizing the Host team and ensuring that the work flows smoothly throughout the year. The treasurer manages SMUN’s budget for the coming year.

    - President

    - Vice-President and Treasurer

    Marketing and Communications
The Marketing and Communications group provides the opportunity for a number of host team members to focus on setting up a major marketing plan to attract students from universities throughout the world and create an even greater presence for SMUN in the future. This group will also hold responsibility for sponsor relations, delegate communications and IT management.

    - Marketing and PR Manager

    - Sponsorship Manager

    - Delegate Liaison Officer

    - IT Manager

    Scenario

The scenario is owned by the entire Host team, but ultimately responsible for its creation are the members of the Scenario group. Applicants to this group should preferably have a high interest in international relations. The Scenario group will also organize the pre-conference lectures and take on the roles as Secretary-General and Deputy Secretary-General during the conference.

    - 2-3 Scenario Managers

    Social Events

The Social Events group is responsible for that which is required for the conference to work outside of the committees. This includes choosing venues, managing catering and not least, organizing the popular Diplomat Dinner.

    - 2-3 Event Organizers
