  • Frequently Asked Questions

We have been contacted with a number of questions about the 2009 conference and wanted to share the most frequently asked ones. General conference information can be found here. Please do not hesitate to contact us if you have any further questions.

Where can I find a conference schedule?

A full conference schedule can be found on page four of the Conference Handbook.

    Can you recommend any accomodation?

A list of accomodation alternatives can be found here.

How do I prepare myself best for the conference?

Read through our Conference Handbook in order to get an overview of the conference as well as to familiarise yourself with SMUNs Rules of Procedure. It is crucial that you understand the Rules of Procedure- they are the rules that govern the simulation! We will offer two run-throughs of the Rules of Procedure with one of our Senior Advisers on the morning of the 13th of November at the University of Stockholm. More information will follow on our website.

Make sure that you are familiar with the scenario, the question being discussed in your committee and the stance your country takes in the matter. We recommend reading through the Committee Guide for more information on the scenario and the work in your committee. The pre-conference lectures are also an excellent way of researching for the conference. Our proficient lecturers will be more than happy to answer your questions on the topic at hand.

We also recommend that you start working together with your co-delegate. Get in touch and start planning your strategies and speeches. The better prepared you are, the more you will get out of the conference.

What should I bring to the conference?

Bring along material you need for committee work such as a laptop and USB memory. Bringing a laptop for resolution work is recommended, although usage inside the committee room during a moderated caucus or formal debate will be at the chair’s discretion. You will be provided with a country sign and nametag at registration.

Will I get any proof of participation?

A certificate of participation will be handed out, as well as awards for the best delegations in each committee.
