Location for SMUN 2009

This year, we’re returning to the roots of Stockholm Model United Nations. The 2009 SMUN conference will be held at Stockholm University, in the halls of Geovetarnas hus.

SMUN has through the years been held alternately at Stockholm School of Economics and Stockholm University; this year’s conference will return to the premises were SMUN 2005 was held, and where we at that time dealt with Iran’s alleged nuclear weapons programme.

Geovetarnas hus, hosting several hundred students in fields such as geology, geochemistry and social sciences, is situated at the beautiful campus of Stockholm University. The conference premises are located just by the subway station, with easy access from Stockholm city.

The annual SMUN conference has since the start in 2004 had several hundreds participants, and dealt with topics such as the Horn of Africa, climate change and human trafficking.

Notable speakers at the SMUN Opening Ceremonies include Jan Eliasson, Hans Blix and Hans Corell.
