Stockholm Model United Nations
November 11-14, 2010-
The Official Scenario of SMUN 2010
Posted on August 16th, 2010 No commentsThe scenario of Stockholm Model United Nations 2010 is now finally revealed to the public. The scenario of this year’s conference is:
Transnational Organized Crime
Listed as one of “The Ten Threats” by the High Level Threat Panel of the United Nations, Transnational Organized Crime is of major concern for the international community. The nature of this issue is rapidly becoming more global, leaving national police and security forces on the sidelines.
Stockholm Model United Nations 2010 takes on the immense challenge of finding adequate responses to threats posed by transnational criminal organizations. Discussions are divided into three councils, focusing on different aspects of organized crime, including trafficking, terrorism, drug- and arms trade. In this way, discussions will be approaching the issue from three separate, but interlinked angles.
When developing new strategies in the form of resolutions, delegates are encouraged to consider previous undertakings of the UN. These resolutions shall preferably have a twofold approach, including crime prosecution as well as prevention, aiming at building the basis for a more secure and just global future. The task of defining appropriate as well as effective means and measure is demanding. Are you ready to accept the challenge?

Registration is open until September 5 for applicants in need of Visa, and until September 20 for all other applicants.
